Why trust California Design Den?
We don’t ask you to take our word for it. Here’s the evidence—independent testing and certifications, editorial recognition, manufacturing transparency, and what over eight million customers have said.
What our certifications and testing actually mean
Different fabrics have different standards—and we keep that transparent. Each one below applies only to the products where it genuinely applies. No blanket claims.
OEKO-TEX® Standard 100
Our bedding is tested for harmful substances—every component: fiber, thread, dye, and finish. What touches your skin has been checked, not just claimed.
GOTS—Global Organic Textile Standard
Applies to our organic cotton collections. GOTS certification covers the entire chain—farm, spinning, weaving, dyeing, and finishing.
Egyptian Cotton™ Gold Seal
Applies to our Egyptian cotton collections to verify authenticity—confirming genuine extra-long staple cotton grown in Egypt.
OEKO-TEX® Standard 100—tested for harmful substances
OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 testing means every component of the fabric—fiber, thread, dye, and finishing agent—has been independently tested for more than 100 harmful substances. It is one of the most widely recognized textile safety standards in the world.
What touches your skin has been checked by an independent laboratory.
GOTS—Global Organic Textile Standard
GOTS is one of the most widely recognized organic textile standards. It does not only certify that the cotton was grown organically; it covers the entire production chain, from the farm through spinning, weaving, dyeing, and finishing.
If a California Design Den organic cotton product carries the GOTS label, that certification applies from the farm through the finished product.
Egyptian Cotton™ Gold Seal
“Egyptian cotton” is one of the most misused labels in bedding. Blends and misleading marketing can make it difficult to know what you are getting.
The Egyptian Cotton™ Gold Seal verifies that the cotton in the product is authentic, extra-long staple cotton grown in Egypt. When it appears on a California Design Den product, it applies only to that verified Egyptian cotton collection.
Evaluated by people with strict standards
Every item below was earned through independent evaluation—lab testing or editorial review, never paid placement. The complete year-by-year record, with dates, products, and source links, lives on our Press & Awards page.
Good Housekeeping Seal—19 cotton bedding collections

Our sheets and duvet covers have been recognized in Good Housekeeping’s Bedding Awards every year since 2023, following the Institute’s real-world testing.

Hearst Eco-Conscious Living Summit
California Design Den is a proud partner of the 5th Annual Hearst Eco-Conscious Living Summit—alongside 1 Hotels, Bloomeffects, Organic Valley, and Zip Water.
How our bedding actually gets made
Most bedding brands outsource production to factories they’ve never visited. We’ve been on the factory floor since 2006—twenty years of hands-on textile manufacturing before and beside everything we sell today.
Family-owned manufacturing
Most of our sheets are made in our own family-owned and operated facility—the same one where we’ve manufactured textiles since 2006. The rest of our range comes from a small number of carefully selected partner facilities, produced to our specifications under our direct oversight.
Farm-direct cotton
We source cotton from small, family-owned farms and test raw fibers throughout development. Plant-based only—no synthetic microfiber, which sheds microplastics with every wash.
In-house quality control
Weave consistency, finishing, and quality checks are handled by our own team—not subcontracted. When something’s off, we fix it before it ships.
No middlemen, honest pricing
By removing sourcing agents, distributors, and retail markups, we pass real savings to customers—not “sale” pricing on an inflated list price.
What customers say—by the numbers
On Amazon, where we’re a top seller in cotton sheets, that review base has been built the slow way—over years of consistent product quality, accurate listings, and reliable fulfillment. Review counts and ratings are visible on every listing; nothing here is curated or paid.
